Kings XI canter to easy victory
Shaun Marsh and Ramnaresh Sarwan lead the Kings XI Punjab to an easy 6 wicket victory over the Bangalore Royal Challengers at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Yuvraj Singh's men chased down a target of 127 with 10 balls to spare, a result that moves them level on points with the Rajasthan Royals at the top of the standings.
Shaun Marsh (39) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (31) set the platform with a half-century stand for the second wicket before fifth-wicket pair Mahela Jayawardene (17no) and Irfan Pathan (17no) sealed a comfortable victory.
Earlier, Rahul Dravid's 66 saved Bangalore from complete humiliation after they had been asked to bat.
Dravid, batting at number five, struck nine fours and one six during his 51-ball innings, having arrived at the crease with his side in deep trouble at 15-3.
Punjab seamer Shantha Sreesanth (2-16) set the tone with two wickets in the first over of the match - Wasim Jaffer (0) edged behind and Cameron White (0) was bowled between bat-and-pad.
Jacques Kallis become the third duck of the innings when he was run out in fourth over before Dravid and Virat Kohli repaired some of the damage with a stand of 54 in 8.4 overs.
Kohli fell to Irfan Pathan for 34 and none of the lower order was able to give skipper Dravid the necessary support as the hosts were all out for 126 in the final over. Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla ran through the tail to finish with 3-25.
