Chargers can't afford another defeat

Adam Gilchrist feels his Deccan Chargers side need to win all their remaining fixtures if they are to have a chance of reaching the semi-finals of the Indian Premier League.

Gilchrist, standing in as captain for VVS Laxman on Friday, gave his side a good start hitting 61 off 49 balls against the Rajasthan Royals but got little support elsewhere as his side were reduced to a below-par 140-8.

The Royals had no problem reaching the target with four overs to spare, leaving Gilchrist's Chargers - as he came close to conceding - all but out the tournament.

"It's another body blow," Gilchrist admitted to Setanta Sports. "It feels like just after we got off the canvas and get the feeling back we take another blow.

"It's onward now. We definitely can't afford to lose another game and it remains to be seen whether if we win all our games we'll get in. We might have to rely on other results. That's beyond our control anyway. Maybe we can just go out there and have some fun and turn it around that way.

"We set ourself a target of about 160, we weren't really looking any higher than that.

"The wicket was a bit slow and to give credit to them they summed things up well and took the pace off [the ball] and a mixture of a few quicker balls as well and their variety was what blew us apart."
