In form Punjab ready for battle

After Rajathan Royals' scintillating victory on Friday against Deccan Chargers, the focus now shifts to the MA Chidambaram stadium as Dhoni's Super Kings take on an in-form King's XI Punjab.

Chennai and Punjab clashed for the first time in the second match of the Indian Premier League and a century from Michael Hussey ensured that the match was a no-contest.

However, since then Punjab have hit a formidable run of form, and are on a five-match winning streak, while Chennai took a beating after their foreign players left.

The Mohali side's strength lies in their batting with Shuan Marsh adding that much needed solidity, which compliments an ever improving bowling unit in Irfan Pathan, VRV Singha and Piyush Chawla.

Chennai, though, have been expermineting with their batting order which has seen the emergence of players like Albie Morkel come to fore. Chennai will be looking to continue the much gathered momentum and also put an end to Punjab's 5-match winning streak.

Not surprisingly, the match is already labeled as a face-off between Yuvraj and Super Kings’ captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. “This is not a contest between two players. There are 20 other players. I don’t need to worry about Dhoni and his plans. I am only thinking of our players and how we are going to play,” concluded Yuvraj.

"We will go with our strengths, and that is how we are going to play," said the Kings IX captain on Friday (May 9) while coach Tom Moody said the team "have got a good combination of attacking bowlers, attacking batsmen and batsmen who can adjust to certain roles. We have got good all round skills as well and with guys that both bat and bowl I am very comfortable."
