Cairns closes in on Notts return
New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns is set to come out of retirement and play for Nottinghamshire in their Twenty20 campaign, which starts on Friday.
BBC Radio Nottingham can exclusively reveal Cairns is set for another spell at Trent Bridge, though Notts are yet to confirm the news.
Because he has a Dutch wife, Cairns can sign for Notts as a Kolpak player.
The 37-year-old first played for Notts 20 years ago, and will line up alongside countryman Andre Adams.
Cairns played 62 Tests and 215 one-day internationals for New Zealand between 1989 and 2006.
And he has captained the Chandigarh Lions in the rebel Indian Cricket League Twenty20 tournament.
