Punters backing Steelbacks for success
Northamptonshire Steelbacks' fantastic early form in the Twenty20 Cup has seen them gain great favour with the punters.
At the start of the competition they could be backed as high as 30/1. However, three wins from three games and now they have closed in to around 8/1 which makes them third favourites to take the title.
It is not just the results that have impressed, though. The manner of the victories have also been very assured.
But, as they embark on a period that will seem them play their remaining seven matches over a 12-day period starting with the visit of Gloucestershire to Campbell Park in Milton Keynes tonight, head coach David Capel is more concerned about what is still to come rather than what they have already achieved.
"We couldn't have asked for more so far," he said. "Three wins out of three is a top position to be in.
"But we know in no uncertain terms that we have only played three and there are still seven games to go.
"We have achieved nothing yet and have to keep up our standards through the remaining games.
"We have got a bit of a hectic period coming up with four games between now and Sunday.
"But, whatever game we are playing, we know we have to maintain the standards we have set."
The Steelbacks have no injury concerns going into tonight's clash at Milton Keynes.
It seems likely Capel will select an unchanged side as they seek to complete a quick double over the Gladiators having beaten them in Bristol on Sunday.
That means Monty Panesar will once again miss out.
