Dragons ready for Steelbacks
Glamorgan have announced an unchanged 12-man squad for their Twenty20 Cup match against the Northamptonshire Steelbacks at the Swalec Stadium tonight.
Because of the weather the unfortunate Dragons have completed only one 20-over game on home soil so far this season - and that produced a victory against Somerset, ironically on Friday, June 13.
After last Wednesday's match with Gloucestershire was disappointingly rained off, captain David Hemp will be hoping for better luck when his side host their divisional leaders under the floodlights in Cardiff.
Tonight's match is the first of back-to-back encounters against the Northamptonshire Steelbacks, with a return meeting at Northampton on Sunday afternoon.
The Dragons' last two home matches against the Steelbacks in the Twenty20 Cup have both been washed out, with rain ruining the contests at Cardiff in 2005 and 2007.
In the only game so far on Welsh soil to escape the weather, the Steelbacks were guided to a 23-run victory courtesy of an unbeaten 79 from Australian batsman Mike Hussey in 2006.
Glamorgan: David Hemp (capt), Robert Croft, Herschelle Gibbs, Michael Powell, Ben Wright, Jamie Dalrymple, Richard Grant, Mark Wallace, Ryan Watkins, Alex Wharf, Dean Cosker and David Harrison.
