Crusaders seal quarter final spot
Middlesex Crusaders sealed their place in the quarter-final stage of the Twenty20 Cup after an impressive six-wicket win over Sussex Sharks at Hove.
Opener Billy Godleman was the Crusaders' hero as he struck 69 off 49 balls to help the visitors past their 151 target with six balls to spare.
After winning the toss, Sussex skipper Chris Adams' decision to bat looked a shrewd one after Michael Yardy blazed a quick-fire 43 in a second-wicket 55-run stand with Matt Prior (30 off 17 balls).
However, young paceman Steven Finn pegged the hosts back superbly and finished with fine figures of 3-22 off his four overs to halt any Sharks hopes of a late assault.
The Crusaders paced their chase to perfection after a rapid opening partnership of 69 between Godleman and Dan Housego (17).
After 19-year-old Godleman departed for a match-winning 69, Ed Joyce (28 not out) and Dawid Malan (15 not out) ensured the Crusaders passed their target and clinched a place in the last eight of the competition.
