The usually explosive TP Singh & Mongia were unable to find any momentum in their batting; compounded by some disciplined spin bowling from the Hyderabad stable. The 14th over mark had Chandigarh Lions struggle at 93/3. The pressure eventually got to TP Singh, scoping one to long off to give the young IS Reddy his second scalp of the match in the 15th over.

The impressive Inder Shekar Reddy ended his four over quota with impressive figures of 2/ 15.

The introduction of Nicky Boje in the 18th over spelt success for the Hyderabad Heroes with immediate effect; ending Dinesh Mongiaís fighting knock of 38 off 32 balls, laced with 4 fours and 1 six. The Hyderabad Heroes chase got off to a confident start with the experienced combination of Razzaq & Maher getting 30 runs off the first three overs. The solid partnership between the two prolific openers crossed the fifty run mark off 43 balls in the 7th over, putting the defending champions in an absolute driversí seat at that stage of the match.

Razzaq cut loose in the 11th over from Mongia, getting 16 runs of it, to power the scorecard to 89/ no loss.
