De Villiers expected to be fit to play

South Africa is expecting batsman A. B. de Villiers to overcome a hip injury and play in tonight's second Twenty20 international against Australia.

The touring team has made three changes after Sunday night's 52-run belting by Australia, although the 24-year-old is not among the rested players.

All-rounder Wayne Parnell, 19, batsman Hashim Amla and paceman Morne Morkel come into the South African side at the expense of Jacques Kallis, Makhaya Ntini and Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

Australian paceman Shaun Tait hit de Villiers on the hip with a 155km/h delivery and caused him to hit his own stumps, although team spokesman Michael Owen-Smith said the right-hander had not needed any scans.

"All he's had is treatment with a physio," he said. "He'll probably have to do a fitness test … but at the moment we've named the XI for the game and it certainly includes him."

Kallis and Ntini suffered in the batting onslaught from Australian debutant David Warner, although Owen-Smith said form was not the motivation for the changes. "The plan was always to give all the players, except Neil McKenzie, a run in the two T20s and that's basically what's happening," he said.

Australia is yet to name its team, although Queensland paceman Ryan Harris, 12th man on Sunday, may play at his home ground.
