Contingency plan for Old Trafford T20
The Twenty20 Cup quarter-final between Lancashire and Somerset could now take place on Thursday July 30 if poor weather prevents play from taking place at Old Trafford tonight.
The tie was originally set to be played last night, but had to be moved back 24 hours following persistent rain in Manchester.
And with more inclement weather forecast today, the two clubs have, in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board, agreed to put a further contingency plan in place.
Therefore, if no play is possible this evening, both teams will try again at 11am tomorrow. The game will be played under normal Twenty20 Cup rules. There is an extra hour available if needed but play must end by 2:45pm BST.
Both Lancashire and Somerset felt that too much was riding on the match for this option not to be explored and have thanked the ECB for their understanding in this matter.
However, if play is still not possible due to adverse conditions on Thursday, then a bowl-out will take place to determine who moves forward to finals day at Edgbaston.
If the conditions donít allow for this bowl-out to take place outdoors at Old Trafford, this will be conducted inside the Indoor Cricket Centre.
