Pollard leads Trinidad to stunning victory

Kieron Pollard's magnificent assault on New South Wales saw Trinidad & Tobago romp to a four-wicket victory after they'd looked down and out for the best part of the match.

Chasing 171 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, T&T needed 80 runs in the last seven overs when Pollard walked out to bat. The powerfully-built 22-year old hit five sixes and five fours, sealing the chase in 18.3 overs with his 18-ball fifty.

Moises Henriques came in for harsh treatment with the ball. The NSW all-rounder had figures of 2-0-6-1 when Pollard clobbered him for three sixes and two fours in the 17th over that cost 27 runs in all.

With 16 to get from two overs, Simon Katich persisted with Henriques. Pollard responded with a four through deep midwicket, a six over the sight-screen, and another six over long-off. The last shot brought up his fifty and sealed the thrilling win.

Henriques conceded 43 runs in 9 legitimate deliveries in his second spell.

The Pollard show ruined a fantastic batting effort from NSW openers Phil Hughes and David Warner, who'd added 121 after Katich elected to bat.

Hughes' 83 anchored the Australian team till the 20th over. Warner (63), who'd started off slowly was on 27 to Hughes' 49 when he hit Lendl Simmons for 24 in an over to reach his fifty first in the 12th over.

For T&T, Dwayne Bravo produced another fantastic effort with the ball, taking 3-31 in four overs, boosting his wicket tally in the competition to 10 in three matches.

He, however, failed for the third time with the bat, making just 1.

T&T were dead and buried at 91-5 in 13 overs before Pollard turned things around.
