Collingwood out, Pietersen makes surprise start

Graeme Smith has won the toss for South Africa and decided to bat first at Centurion as South Africa look to level the Twenty20 series against England.

England have suffered a double injury blow with captain Paul Collingwood and spinner Graeme Swann both failing fitness tests this morning after picking up injuries during Friday nights game at the Wanderers.

Collingwood, Swann and James Anderson (knee) all missed yesterdays practice as a precaution but Collingwood and Swann were unable to recover in time for today's games.

With Andrew Strauss not playing international Twenty20 cricket Alastair Cook will captain England at Centurion.

The big news before the toss was the surprise inclusion of Kevin Pietersen in the line up. Pietersen has been out of cricket since an Achilles injury in the summer and it was expected he wouldn't play until the one day series next week.

With Collingwood missing out Pietersen will come in at number 4 and Abil Rashid will take over from Swann.

South Africa have made a number of changes as well with wicketkeeper Heino Kuhn being handed his debut, Yusuf Abdulla takes the place of Charl Langeveldt and Jacques Kallis comes back into the line up after being rested at the Wanderers.

South Africa - Graeme Smith, Loots Bosman, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Albie Morkel, Ryan McLaren, Heino Kuhn (wk), Roelof van der Merwe, Dale Steyn, Yusuf Abdulla

England - Joe Denly, Alastair Cook (capt), Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior (wk), Luke Wright, Tim Bresnan, Adil Rashid, Sajid Mahmood, James Anderson
