Redbacks restrict Bulls to low total

The Queensland Bulls decision to bat after winning the toss backfield as the West End Redbacks restricted the Bulls to just 156 at a packed Adelaide Oval in tonight's KFC Big Bash encounter.

Chris Simpson won the toss for the Bulls and he didn't hesitate in deciding to bat first, so far during this years KFC Big Bash the Victorian Bushrangers are the only team to have won a game chasing a total.

The Bulls got off to a slow start and lost opener Ben Dunk (10) in just the third over leaving the visitors 23-1. Lee Carseldine joined James Hopes at the crease with the Bulls needing to increase the run rate.

The pair started well and enjoyed a partnership of 50 runs before Carseldine was bowled by Aaron O'Brien as the Bulls reach 75-2 after 10 overs.

Nathan Reardon only lasted 11 balls scoring 16 runs before being caught by O'Brien off the bowling of West Indies all rounder Kieron Pollard. With just under 8 overs to go the Bulls were 102-3.

Andrew Symonds joined Hopes out in the middle with the Bulls needing to increase the run rate in order to set a total which would be defendable. The two big hitters started off well on a slow pitch before Shahid Afridi struck clean bowling Hopes for 63.

With Hope gone it was left to Symonds and Craig Philipson lead the Bulls to a defendable total.
