Shahid Afridi to miss Big Bash final
The West End Redbacks have been doubt a large blow to their chances of winning this years KFC Big Bash after being told star player Shahid Afridi will be unable to play.
Afridi, who as stared with the bat and ball for the Redbacks in the Big Bash has been named vice captain of Pakistan's one day team which plays Australia in Brisbane on the day before the Big bash final in Adelaide.
The Redbacks have spoken to the Pakistan Cricket Board about allowing Afridi to play in the final and even though they are still waiting a response the chances of him playing are pretty slim.
"The question was being asked today but whether or not we get the answer we want is in the balance," sais Redbacks coach Mark Sorell.
"You'd have to say it's only a slim chance. He's a significant player for them and you'd imagine they wouldn't want to risk him becoming unnecessarily fatigued." he added
"He's a high quality player and we'd love to have him available. But if not, other guys are just going to have to step up."
