New Zealand in control as Bangladesh struggle

New Zealand will be chasing a target of just 79 runs for victory against Bangladesh after the visitors struggled to keep the Kiwis bowlers at bay on a warm evening at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

The Tigers got off to a good start thanks to Tamim Iqbal (14) who hit three quick boundaries before he was caught by Brendon McCullum trying to hook a bouncer from Daryl Tuffey.

Aftab Ahmed followed Iqbal's lead hitting a huge six over fine leg off the bowling of James Franklin in the fifth over. Franklin soon got his revenge bowling a perfect yorker two balls later knocking over Ahmed's off stump.

The wicket of Ahmed left the middle order exposed as the Tigers slumped from 37/2 to 59/7 with Shakib Al Hasan (3), Mushfiqur Rahim (0), Mahmudullah (11) and Naeem Islam (5) all failing with the bat to put the Kiwis in control of the game.

The wickets continued to fall, Shahadat Hossain was stumped by McCullum for just 1 in the 14th over to give New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori his third wicket of the night and figures of 6/3 from his 4 overs.

With 5 overs to go the Tigers found themselves 66/8 and in danger of not batting out their 20 overs. Unsurprisingly wicket number nine soon followed as Shafiul Islam (1) was brilliantly caught by Ross Taylor at first slip to give Tuffey his second wicket of the night.

Raqibul Hasan (18) enjoyed a 13 ball cameo hitting 2 fours and a six before he was caught by Gareth Hopkins in front of square leg off the bowling of Jacob Oram to leave the Tigers 78 all out.
