UAE complete Group B clean sweep
The United Arab Emirates made it three wins out of three after beating Canada by 41 runs in a one sided match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi giving them a maximum 6 points from their three Group B games.
Canada, who needed to win to stand any chance of reaching the Super Fours were set a target of 143 but they were unable to get any momentum losing wickets at regular intervals to crash out of the Twenty20 World Cup qualifies.
The Canadians run chase got of to a poor start as openers Rizwan Cheema (4) and John Davison (8) both fell inside the first 2 overs to leave Canada 13/2.
Geoff Barnett (19) and Ashish Bagai (21) offered some hope of victory with a 3rd wicket partnership of 35 but the pair both lost their wickets in the fifth over to leave Canada's challenge floundering.
Canada's tale enders offered little resistant as the UAE raced to victory.
The UAE were put into bat by Canada and despite losing a number of players cheaply Arfan Haider (46) and Saqib Ali (43) stood out with aggressive batting to help the hosts reach 142/7.
The victory guarantees top spot for the UAE in Group B while the Canadian leave the competition with no points having come into the event confident of reaching the Super Fours.
