Warriors hold on to win thriller against Cobras
The Chevrolet Warriors claimed a thrilling three run victory over the Nashua Cape Cobras in the first game of their best of three semi final at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth..
The Cobras, who were chasing 150 for the victory, entered the last over of the game needing just 8 runs but Warriors bowler Rusty Theron took two wickets to seal the victory.
Theron took the wickets of Vernon Philander and Rory Kleinveldt before bowling a perfect yorker from the final ball to seal the victory leaving the Cobras three runs short.
Before Theronís heroics the Cobras were on course for an easy victory thanks to a superb 61 run 5th wicket partnership between Robin Peterson and Justin Kemp. The pair never looked in trouble until Kemp was caught at square leg off the bowling of Lyall Meyer.
Earlier having won the toss the Warriors batted first and were indebted to Colin Ingram who smashed a quick fire 41 ball 60, he was supported by Davy Jacobs (42) as the pair enjoyed a 96 runs partnership for the 4th wicket to help the Warriors reach 149-3.
