Ryder smashes Kiwis to victory over Irish
Jesse Ryder smashed a blistering 33 ball 58 to help New Zealand cruise to a comprehensive 40 run victory over Ireland at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Having won the toss New Zealand batted first and made light work of Irelands bowling attack with Ryder and Martin Guptill both scoring quick fire half centuries.
Rob Nichol contributed 31 as the Kiwis set the Irish a victory target of 188.
In reply Ireland got off to a poor start losing four early wickets to leave them 89-4 after off-spinner Nathan McCullum struck three times.
After McCullum struck the Irish were unable to recover and when Kevin O’Brien (28) was run out Ireland lost their last recognised batsman and any chances of victory.
