Sharks ready for new Friends Provident T20
Twenty20 Cup champions the Sussex Sharks will open their defence in the new Friends Provident t20 tournament on Tuesday night against the Somerset Sabres at The County Ground in Hove.
The Sharks will be boosted by the inclusion of Twenty20 World Cup winners Mike Yardy and Luke Wright who will be looking to help get the South coast team off to a winning start.
"Luke and I have played nine T20s in the last month so we will go into it knowing what we are about in terms of our own games and some of our potential opponents who played in the World Cup and are now with other counties," said Yardy to The Argus newspaper.
"Then weíve got Brendon McCullum coming too, a player with massive experience in the World Cup and the IPL. I think it will all help give us some momentum early on which you need to take into a competition like this," he added.
"It is very easy to get on a roll if you can win your first couple of games, as we showed last year."
"Hopefully our success will have some spin offs. We donít win many World Cups as a nation so hopefully that will be reflected in the crowds and atmosphere this year because there are some seriously talented players coming to play."
The Sabres will also welcome back Craig Kieswetter who played an important role in Englandís triumph in the West Indies but they will be without Keiron Pollard and Cameron White who will not be available because of international commitments.
