Stunning ten Doeschate innings recues Eagles
Ryan ten Doeschate smashed a stunning 22 ball half century to help rescue the Essex Eagles after they had been reduced to just 24-4 against the Kent Spitfires.
The Dutch batsman came to the crease with the Eagles in deep trouble but he produced a glorious innings smashing 9 fours and 7 sixes to help the home side reach 167-9.
ten Doeschate (98) targeted Sri Lankan Malinga Bandara who conceded 39 runs from just 3 overs as the Eagles fought their way back into the game after the Spitfires had tore through the home sides top order with Stevens and Cook each taking two wickets to leave the home side 24-4.
Having been put into bat by the Spitfires; the Eagles lost Mark Pettini (1) and Ravi Bopara (1) in the first over which was bowled by medium pacer Stevens who surprisingly opened the innings.
The Eagles; who have only lost 6 Twenty20 games at Chelmsford were doubt a further blow when Cook struck twice in the 4th over to remove Grant Flower (7) and Graham Naiper (12).
ten Doeschate’s glorious contribution papered over the cracks in the Eagles innings which saw only Matt Walker (21) offer any sort of the support.
