Gladiators cruise to crushing victory
The Gloucestershire Gladiators cruised to an impressive 10 wicket victory over the Surrey Lions in a one sided clash at the Brit Oval.
Set a total of just 98 runs to win William Porterfield (47) and James Franklin (41) made light work of the total racing to victory with over 9 overs to spare.
The victory ruined Andrew Symonds and Younis Khanís Twenty20 debuts for the Lions who suffered a total batting collapse limiting to a total of just 97.
Having put the Lions into bat the visitors took control of the game picking up a number of early wickets to leave the 2003 Twenty20 Cup winners 13-4 after just 4.4 overs.
Lions skipper Rory Hamilton-Brown watched on from the non strikers end as his top order collapse with Steve Davies (1), Mark Ramprakash (1), Andrew Symonds (1), Younis Khan (2) and Usman Afzaal (2) offering no resistantís.
Hamilton-Brown remained at the crease long enough to score 41 before he was run out be Hamish Marshall in the 10th over.
With the skipper gone the Lions fell away quickly collapsing to a total of just 97 to leave the Gladiators in control.
