Gilchrist century seals Panthers victory
Middlesex Panthers skipper Adam Gilchrist scored a wonderful century to help the Panthers cruise to a 6 wicket victory over the Kent Spitfires to win their first Friends Provident t20 game.
Gilchrist made up for two disappointing innings at Lords with a 48 ball century to lead the Panthers to a well deserved victory.
Despite losing Australian David Warner (17) in the 4th over; Gilchrist; who took over as Panthers skipper from Shaun Udal shared a second wicket partnership of 104 with Neil Dexter (16) to set up the victory.
Gilchrist’s (106) innings was ended by Matt Coles at the end of the 17th over but the damage had already been done thanks to some aggressive batting by Gilchrist which included 10 fours and 7 sixes.
Having been out into bat by the visitors; the Spitfires reached a total of 183-6 thanks to a half century from Martin van Jaarsveld who was supported by Darren Stevens (34) and Geraint Jones (39).
