Wright and Nash steer Sharks to victory

The Sussex Sharks sealed an impressive 3 wicket victory over the Glamorgan Dragons to make it five wins in a row to start their Friends Provident t20 campaign in style.

The victory over the Dragons see’s the Sharks hold a four point advantage at the top of the South group with the home side sitting in second place.

Set a total of 144 for victory the Sharks started off poorly after they lost Matt Prior (8), Murray Goodwin (5) and Brendon McCullum (13) inside the first 7 overs to leave the visitors 39-3.

Luke Wright responded positively scoring 39 from just 21 balls before he was dismissed Robert Croft in the 13th over.

With their Twenty20 World Cup winner back in the dugout Chris Nash took control of the game smashing 28 runs from just 18 balls to set up the victory for the Sharks.

Having won the toss Dragons skipper Jamie Dalrymple decided to bat first but it was a decision which proved to be costly after openers Mark Cosgrove (14) and Jim Allenby (11) were quickly dismissed.

Tom Maynard (35) enjoyed a 33 run partnership with Dalrymple (6) before the skipper was dismissed by Chris Nash in the 10th over to leave the Dragons 61-3.

Maynard soon followed after his 23 ball innings was ended by Nash before Gareth Rees and David Brown shared a 5th wicket partnership of 46 before Brown (16) was run out in the 17th over.

Rees (35) followed Brown back to the dugout in the next over when he was run out which left Mark Wallace (13) and James Harris (6) to see out the last 8 balls of the innings.
