Prior smashes Sharks to remarkable victory
England wicket keeper Matt Prior smashed an incredible 48 ball century to help the Sussex Sharks claim a remarkable 53 run victory over the Glamorgan Dragons.
Prior went on to score a mammoth 117 runs before he was caught by wicket keeper Mark Wallace at the start of the 15th giving Australian Shaun Tait the break through.
Opening the innings Prior smashed an incredible 15 fours and 5 sixes to thrill the fans at the County Ground in Hove as the defending champions posted a total of 239-5; the third highest score ever recorded in domestic Twenty20 cricket in England.
With Prior back in the dug our Chris Nash enjoyed a cameo innings smashing 60 runs from just 26 balls as the Dragons bowlers were smashed to all parts of the County Ground.
With the batsmen on top the visitorís bowlers suffered a torrid time which saw James Harris concede 61 runs from his four over spell.
Faced with such a mammoth run chase the Dragons got off to a good start which saw Mark Cosgrove (43) and Jim Allenby (27) enjoy an opening stand of 69 before Cosgrove was dismissed by Nash.
But despite this good start the Dragons lost wickets at regular intervals and although skipper Jamie Dalrymple top scored with 46 the Sharks cruised to victory.
