Flintoff ruled out of Champions League
Andrew Flintoffs hopes of making a comeback from injury during next months Twenty20 Champions League have been dealt a major blow.
The former England all rounder had been included in the Chennai Super Kings squad after seating out the last 12 months because of a series of knee injuries.
Flintoff was due to take part in a three-day match for Lancashire, his first competitive match of the summer; but he was withdrawn promoting new fears about his fitness.
"Following consultation with Andrew Flintoff, Andy Williams (Flintoff's surgeon) and our own medical team, Lancashire County Cricket Club have today confirmed Flintoff will not be returning to competitive cricket for the remainder of the 2010 season," said a Lancashire spokesman.
"Whist Andrew has made significant progress, the combined opinion is that he is not quite ready for a return to cricket,” they added.
“He will continue his rehabilitation into the winter months and we will constantly monitor and review his progress so that he is better equipped for a return to action," said Lancashire Cricket Director Mike Watkinson.
