World Cup winners available for Finals Day
Three of Englands Twenty20 World Cup winning squad have been made available for their respective counties ahead of Saturdays Friends Provident t20 Finals Day at The Rose Bowl.
The trio of Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Kevin Pietersen (Hampshire) and Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire) all played important roles in England’s victorious campaign in the Caribbean.
Broad, Swann and England Test opener Alistair Cook (Essex) are all expected to play while Pietersen, who announced his decision to leave Hampshire at the end of the season in unlikely to feature at his home ground.
With two world class player’s available Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell confirmed Swann and Broad will face Somerset in the second of Saturday’s two semi finals.
“We will select the best players available to us, and Stuart and Graeme will add significant strength to our team. We've used a lot of players to get to finals day and everyone has made a good contribution,” said Newell.
“I'll talk to the players who will have to make way for Stuart and Graeme. But everyone understands we will pick the team that will give us the best possible chance of winning the match and progressing to the final,” he added.
