Smith stands down as Proteas T20 skipper
Graeme Smith has decided to step down as South Africa Twenty20 skipper after deciding to concentrate on leading the countries test side.
The 29 year old will stand down with immediate effect; he will also give up the captaincy of the Proteas one day team after next years ODI World Cup.
Despite resigning Smith will continue to play in the shortest format of the game for South Africa.
"The off season has provided a great opportunity for me to reflect on our teams' successful journey and set some challenging personal goals for the future," said Smith.
"After a lot of thought and consideration I have decided to step down from the captaincy of the ODI squad at the conclusion of the 2011 ICC World Cup campaign."
"I will also stand down as captain of the Pro20 International squad with immediate effect."
