Skipper full of praise for Warriors team effort
Chevrolet Warriors skipper Davy Jacobs was full of praise for his team effort after their comprehensive 30 run victory over the South Australia Redbacks.
The victory sets up a showdown with the Chennai Super Kings in Sunday’s Twenty20 Champions League final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
"Obviously, I am very happy with the win. We got off to a good start and anything over 160 on this track was tough. And then Tsotsobe gave us a dream start with the ball," said Jacobs after the game.
"The first six overs in a Twenty20 game, both with the bat and the ball, is very important," he added.
Michael Klinger meanwhile was critical of his bowlers after the Redbacks gave up 20 extra runs during the Warriors innings, a total which proved to be decisive.
"On that wicket, I think we had given 20 runs too many. But we had a great tournament and it is disappointing not to have finished on a high after all the good work," said Klinger.
"We dropped a few catches. Unfortunately, today it just didn't happen. We gave it a good crack but lost a few wickets early, which didn't help."
"But the experience to play against some of the top teams and players of the world was fantastic for us. The boys have learnt a lot," he added.
