Aces hold on to secure final ball victory

The Auckland Aces moved up into 2nd place in the HRC Twenty20 Cup group standings after a thrilling 1 run victory over the Canterbury Wizards at the QEII Park in Christchurch.

Having set the Wizards a target of 156 the Aces held on despite a 41 ball half century from Dutchman Ryan ten Doeschate who almost led the home side to victory after sharing a 55 run partnership with Rob Nicol (46).

Although the Wizards were always in control of the run chase two late run outs changed the course of the game and allowed the Aces to seal a thrilling victory.

Having been put into bat Jimmy Adams (45) and Colin Munro (33) lead the way for the visitors helping them reach 155-6 from their 20 overs.
