Warriors hold on to secure semi final place

The Chevrolet Warriors secured their place in the Standard Bank Pro20 semi finals after a nervous 6 run victory over the Highveld Lions at St Georges Park in Port Elizabeth.
Having been restricted to a total of just 122-7 the defending Standard Bank Pro20 champions held on to secure victory after the Lions middle order failed to fire.
Faced with a run chase of just 123 the visitors got off to a positive start thanks to Jonathan Vandiar (19) and Gulam Bodi (21) who helped steer the Lions to 78-4.
With victory in sight the Warriors increased the pressure on the Lions middle order and it collapsed in spectacular fashion as four wicket fell in the space of 3 overs to leave the visitors 101-8.
Alfonso Thomas (10) and Paul Harris (4) tried to carry the Lions to victory with a 9th wicket partnership of 15 but the Warriors held their nerve to clinch a semi final spot.
Having won the toss the Warriors batted first but despite a good start from Davy Jacobs (22) and JJ Smuts the home sides middle order collapsed in the space of 3 overs to leave the defending champs 122-7.
