Warriors snap seven game losing streak

The Pune Warriors broke their seven game losing streak thanks to a 8 wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Chandigarh.

The home side suffered a torrid time with the bat after being restricted to a total of just 118-8 which the Warriors successfully reached with over two overs to spare.

Yuvraj Singh and Callum Ferguson (6) steered the visitors to victory with a 4th wicket stand of 32 which all but endís the Kings XIís faint hopes of reaching the IPL play offs.

Yuvraj led the way smashing 5 fours and 2 sixes before he was dismissed in the 16th over to give the Warriors fans something to cheer about after a tough debut season in the Indian Premier League.

Despite losing 3 wickets the visitors were never troubled as Jessi Ryder (15), Manish Pandey (28) and Robin Uthappa (22) slowly steered the Warriors towards victory.

Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first the Kings XI struggled to get their innings going thanks to some impressive bowling from the Warriors.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (14-2) and Rahul Sharma (17-2)led the way for the visitors who were looking to snap a seven game losing streak which as seen them slip out of contention for a place in the play offs.

With the top order failing to fire, Dinesh Karthik played an important role in the middle order scoring 30 to help give the Kings XI bowlers a reasonable total to try and defend.

Shaun Marsh (32) and Paul Valthaty (23) both failed to record big totals after playing themselves in and lost their wickets just as the Kings XI were gaining the momentum to give the Warriors the edge.

The Kings XI causes were hardly helped by the cheap dismissals of Adam Gilchrist (3) and David Hussey (4) as the home sides faint hopes of reaching the play offs took a serve blow.

The home sideís innings never got going as they lost wicket at regular intervals to leave the lower order woefully exposed as they lost their last 5 wickets in the space of 22 deliveries.
