Trescothick wins the toss and elects to bat
Somerset Sabres skipper Marcus Trescothick has won the toss and elected to bat first against the Hampshire Royals in the first game in this years Friends Life t20 at the Rose Bowl.
The Sabres will be looking to gain revenge after the Royals pulled off one of the most remarkable victories in t20 history after Jimmy Adams scrambled for a leg bye from the final delivery of the match to help the Royals claim the title by virtue of losing fewer wickets after the game ended in a tie.
The Royals welcome back Michael Lumb who returns after his eight week stint in the Indian Premier League with the Deccan Chargers while Shahid Afridi as to miss out because of his ongoing problems with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The Sabres meanwhile are without opening batsman and wicket keeper Craig Kieswetter who misses out because of a quad inury, the World Cup winner is replaced by Jos Buttler behind the stumps.
