Defending champions make it two wins in a row
The defending Friends Life t20 champions made it two wins out of two to start their title defence in style thanks to a seven wicket victory over the Surrey Lions at the Rose Bowl.
The Hampshire Royals cruised to victory with an over to spare thanks to James Vince (51) who scored an impressive half century to help the Royals pass the Lions total of 140-7.
The 20 year old came to the crease at the end of the 5th over after Jimmy Adams (12) had been bowled by Tim Linely after an opening stand of 42 with Michael Lumb.
Lumb (36) quickly followed before Vince and McKenzie (32) steered the Royals to victory with a 3rd wicket stand of 83 which was only broken by Jade Dernbach with the home side needing only 5 more runs.
Having batted first the Lions recorded a total of 140-7 thanks to Zander de Bruyn (52) who scored a vital half century after the Lions had been reduced to just 38-2 after 5 overs.
Chris Schofield offered valuable support with an unbeaten 30 but it proved to be in vain as the Royals easily secured victory with six deliveries to spare.
