Dragons cruise to comprehensive victory

The Glamorgan Dragons cruised to a 45 run Duckworth Lewis victory over the Middlesex Panthers at the SWALEC Stadium to start their campaign on a winning note.

The Panthers run chase was altered by a power failure but once play got back under way with a reduced target from just 18 overs the Panthers suffered a lower order collapse which handed victory to the Dragons.

Faced with a run chase of 200, the visitors never really got their innings going with no batsman able to remain at the crease long enough to troubled the home side.

Chris Rogers led the way with a top score of 28 but his contribution was in vain after Alviro Petersen smashed 72 runs from just 48 deliveries to help the home side reach 199-4.

The South African smashed nine boundaries and a six to put the Dragons in control; the opener received support from Jim Allenby (42) and Mark Cosgrove (31) as the home side cruised to victory.
