Superb Dynamos cruise to 9 wicket victory

Phil Mustard scored a quick fire half century to help the Durham Dynamos record a comprehensive 9 wicket victory over the Northamptonshire Steelbacks at the County Ground in Northampton.

Faced with a victory target of 125, Mustard (61) smashed five boundaries and two sixes to help the visitors record their first victory in this years tournament with 23 balls to spare

Ian Blackwell (41) offered his support as the pair steered the Dynamos to victory with a 2nd wicket stand of 67 after Gordon Muchall (19) was dismissed by David Willey in the 10th over.

Having been put into bat, the Steelbacks suffered a torrid time with the bat and were only rescued by skipper Andrew Hall and Johan Botha who shared a vital 6th wicket stand of 63 which helped the home side record a total of 124-9.

The pair came together at the start of the 12th over after Rob White (21) had been trapped LBW by t20 World Cup winner skipper Paul Collingwood which reduced the home side to a total of just 43-5.

The South African pair displayed their vast amount of international experience by playing the ball around the County Ground as they picked up quick singles and the occasional boundary.

With the partnership increasing, Chris Rushworth struck at the start of the penultimate over to remove Hall (36) before Botha (28) fell in the final over after he was dismissed by Mitchell Claydon.

Despite vital contributionís from Hall, Botha and White no other batsman troubled the Dynamos bowlers as the visitors kept the Steelbacks in check thanks to impressive bowling displays from Collingwood (15-2) and Graham Onions (18-1).
