Outlaws march towards quarter finals
Tamim Iqbal smashed 47 runs to help the Nottinghamshire Outlaws maintain their place at the top of the Friends Life t20 Northern group after they completed a six wicket victory over Yorkshire Carnegie.
The Bangladesh international smashed five boundaries and two sixes to help the Outlaws get off to the perfect start in their attempt to chase down Yorkshire’s total of 152-5.
Despite getting off to a good start, thanks to opener Andrew Gale who smashed 62 runs, Yorkshire suffered a middle order collapse before Jonny Bairstow (41) and Ajmal Shahzad (15) shared a 6th wicket stand of 45 to leave the Outlaws facing a run chase of 153.
Andrew Hales (24) and Riki Wessels (27) offered the 22 year old support before the Outlaws lost three wickets in the space of 8 deliveries as they slipped to 105-4 at the start of the 14th over.
Despite the setback Chris Read (26) and Scott Elstone (21) saw the Outlaws home with a 5th wicket stand of 51 to help the visitors complete their 9th win to all but guarantee them a place in the quarter finals.
