Rampant Royals seal quarter final place in style

The Hampshire Royals finally sealed a place in the Friends Life t20 quarters finals thanks to a crushing 112 run victory over the Sussex Sharks in a one sided game at the County Ground in Hove.

James Vince (85) and Neil McKenzie (45) laid the foundations for the victory thanks to a 3rd wicket stand of 94 which helped the defending champions record an imposing total of 193-2.

With a total of 194 to defend, Dimitri Mascarenhas (3-20) and Danny Briggs (4-17) led the Royals charge as the Sharks collapsed in spectacular fashion before they were bowled out for just 81.

The defeat leaves the Sharks in 3rd place in the Southern Group; with just one game to play they’ll be looking over their shoulders, hoping the Surrey Lions and Kent Spitfires drop points before they face the Lions in their final game next Friday night.
