Rampaging Indians cruise to 8 wicket victory
The Mumbai Indians got their IPL challenge off to the perfect start thanks to a rampaging eight wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The Super Kings title defence got off to a disastrous start after they were bowled out for just 112 to leave the Indians with a simple run chase in the opening game of this years Indian Premier League.
Richard Levi lead the run chase with a half century on debut before James Franklin (25) and Ambati Rayudu (18) so the visitors home with over three overs to spare.
The defending champs suffered three run outs as Harbhajan Singh’s side stamped their authority on the match to leave the visitors with a relatively simple run chase to get their tournament off to a great start.
Suresh Raina offered some much needed resistant with a top score of 36 but Pragyan Ojha (2-17) and Kieron Pollard (2-15) ensured the t20 Champions League champions would face a run chase of just 113.
