Impressive Marsh guides Kings XI to victory
A half century from Shaun Marsh was enough to help the Kings XI Punjab record a six wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The Aussie saw the Kings XI home with an impressive innings which saw him smash five boundaries and three sixes to help the Kings XI chase down the Indians victory target of 164 with three balls to spare.
Marsh (67) plated the anchor role in the innings once he arrived the crease in the 7th after the loss of Nitin Saini (30) who had shared an opening stand of 48 with Mandeep Singh.
Singh and David Hussey (21) followed quickly but the Kings XI remained in control thanks to Marsh who helped the visitors record their third victory of the tournament to move levels on points with the Indians.
Having won the toss, the Indians recorded a total of 163-6 thanks in part to James Franklin who scored an impressive half century to lead the Indians attack,
The Kiwi remained at the crease almost throughout the Indians innings to top score with an impressive 79 which included six boundaries and four sixes before he was dismissed by Praveen Kumar (2-36) in the 19th over.
Dinesh Karthik (35) and Sachin Tendulkar (23), returning from injury offered support as the Indians recorded a competitive total of 163-6 from their 20 overs after skipper Harbhajan Singh won the toss and elected to bat first.
