Big hitting Sharks prove too hot to handle
The Sussex Sharks strengthened their chances of sealing a place in the Friends Life t20 quarter finals thanks to a 19 run victory over the Essex Eagles at the County Ground in Hove.
Chris Nash (52), Joe Gatting (45) and Luke Wright (40) lead the way with the bat to help the Sharks score an imposing total of 209-6 to thrill the large home crowd.
Faced with a large run chase the Eagles stayed in the hunt thanks to James Foster (47) and Greg Smith but with wickets falling at regular intervals the visitors came up just short.
Elsewhere in the Southern Group the Hampshire Royals sealed a six wicket victory over the Kent Spitfires at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury.
The days other match at the North Marine Road Ground in Scarborough between Yorkshire Carnegie and the Nottinghamshire Outlaws was abandoned at the start of the 15th over do to heavy rain.
