Hildreth leads rampaging Sabres past the Eagles

The Somerset Sabres booked their place in their fourth straight Friends Life t20 Finals Day thanks to a crushing 27 run victory over the Essex Eagles at a packed County Ground in Taunton.

James Hildreth (58) led the way with a quick fire half century to help the home side post an impressive total of 175-6 after they were put into bat by Eagles skipper James Foster.

Despite the loss of Craig Kieswetter (0) after just one delivery the Sabres built on a positive start from Richard Levi (20) and Marcus Trescothick (19) before Jos Buttler (33) and Hildreth took the game away from the visitors.

Faced with an imposing total, the Eagles were never in the hunt after they lost Mark Pettini (2) and Ravi Bopara (0) early on; Ryan ten Doeschate (47) offered some hope but with wickets falling at regular intervals the Sabres sealed an easy victory.
