Outlaws target quarter-finals
Nottinghamshire all-rounder Mark Ealham is confident a boisterous Trent Bridge crowd will make all the difference as the Outlaws bid to reach the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals for the first time, and clinch a home tie.
Ealham will line up against Derbyshire Phantoms next Tuesday in the final group game of the 20-over tournament and the former England international is determined to give the supporters something to shout about.
He said: “We are very keen as a squad to prove we can be a success in Twenty20 and to play in front of our home fans on finals day would be a massive occasion.
“The crowd have been great in our three home wins. They’ve been very vocal with their support and produced a great atmosphere.
“It gives you a buzz as a player and gets the adrenalin going, which can help your performances, and I also think the opposition can be affected by it.
“We’ve got a 100 per cent record at home so far and with more support on Tuesday like we’ve had so far, we can make it four out of four.”
Following recent wins against Leicestershire and Yorkshire, Notts are top of the North group with eight points from five games, and if they remain there it will guarantee them a home game in the quarter-finals, to be played on Monday July 24.
Almost 20,000 supporters attended the first three home fixtures, with Ealham claiming two man-of-the-match awards in commanding wins over Durham Dynamos, Yorkshire Phoenix and Leicestershire Foxes.
